Whisk the sugar and cornstarch together in medium saucepan.
Add in the milk and heavy cream slowly while stirring to eliminate any lumps.
Cook over medium heat until thick, whisking continuously. This should take about 6-10 minutes.
Remove pan from heat.
Whisk the eggs and vanilla together.
While whisking the pudding quickly, slowly pour the egg mixture into the pan. Stir continuously to prevent the eggs from scrambling!
Return the pan to heat and cook until thick and bubbly, and then remove from heat.
Layer Mason jars or small dessert bowls with vanilla wafers, pudding and bananas.
Serve, and enjoy!
Notes
Note: If you don't have time to make homemade banana pudding, a box of french vanilla Jello pudding will work!To get pronounced layers, chill banana pudding before adding to jars.It may also be necessary to use more vanilla wafers and/or bananas, or cut the bananas up into smaller pieces to make them easier to layer. Another option would be to crush/crumble the wafers.
