Garrett is two months old today.
That’s right. Time she’s a-flyin.
At his 2 month checkup on Thursday he was 10 lbs 3 oz, which is exactly 3 lbs more than the day he left the hospital. I am so happy to see that he is gaining weight so well. Right on target. He got two of his 4 vaccinations, so he has been very needy these past two days. We have spent a lot of time on the couch trying to get him feeling better. He won’t get the other two vaccines until next month, so if any of you have polio don’t come knocking on my door, mkay?
At about the 6 week mark things really started turning around for us, happiness wise. He started sleeping longer stretches and not crying so much during the day. That first 6 weeks seemed like one big torture session but thankfully, Clarice, the lambs have stopped screaming. For the most part anyway. Today we went to the local garden center and bought some things for the yard, and he fell asleep in his stroller without making a peep. Everyone was commenting on my sweet baby, and that was great! He has started smiling in the past few weeks and what a wonderful grin it is!He can melt your heart with one look. I really needed those smiles, and I can usually get one or two on a daily basis. In the past two weeks we have gone from this:

And this:
And that makes me very happy!!
As for sleep, it is hit or miss. The longest he has slept yet is from 8 pm to 2 am, which was wonderful. I couldn’t believe it! But there are no guarantees on that, so we just take it one day at a time. He has spent some time with babysitters (aka grandma and granddaddy) so that J and I could go to the lake. We got the pontoon boat in the water and ready to go at any time. I am very excited to get out on the water again this year. Unfortunately he is still too little for a life vest so we have to wait a while on him to go out with us. He did get to dip his toes in the pool at Grandma’s house. He loved it, and I want to try to take him swimming soon. I know Cousin R would be excited about that!
Other big accomplishments this month—the appearance of eyebrows. Up until this point he has had a bald little forehead. J and I have joked about penciling in some brows for him, but thankfully he grew some on his own before it came to that. Also, his hair is turning RED! In pictures and sunlight there is a definite auburn tint to it. J said he had red hair as a baby and then it all fell out and turned white-blond, so time will tell how it looks in the future. He has a nice little baby mullet kicking right now, and we might just have to get him a wifebeater and a Budweiser and call it a day. He had his first Easter last Sunday, which we spent at Nana and Poppa’s house. He slept through most of it, so we actually got to enjoy a sit-down lunch together without interruption. We had a great day, and had a photo session in his new monogrammed outfit from one of Nana’s coworkers. He was super sweet and we got some great pictures.
