Hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day! J scored big points with me this year by giving me two Wii games and a gorgeous photo frame from Hallmark that is the cream colored version of this one. It says “Blessings come in all shapes and size.” I love it. I would post a pic but I’m too lazy to get up and do it right now. Maybe I’ll get around to it later. Or not.
Looky, I did get around to it!
I got The Price is Right which we played nonstop all night Friday night. I smoked J in the pricing games, thanks to many years of playing the Grocery Game. But he has me beat in the Showcase Showdowns. I average about $15,000 off in either direction on those things. And then I hear WAH WAH WUH Woooooowwww…..
And I lose.
Oh well, I love playing Plinko and the Cliffhangers yodeler dude is the BEST!
I also got Sim City Creator which really scratches my space planning itch. You’d think I would get enough of that at work everyday, but nah, I really love laying things out and designing the ideal city is just perfect for me. I spent hours playing this game last night. And if J wasn’t watching the NBA Allstar game right now on the only tv in our house, I would be playing it again tonight. Those crazy Sims are so damn addictive. What IS it about those things? They get me every time.
Today we drove down to the lake cabin and worked on some things on the Neverending To Do List. J worked on the golf cart, and G and I swept up all the dead lady bugs in the kitchen. Then we discovered that we have a roof leak! YAY! One more thing to add to the list! I walked into the bedroom and saw that five of our ceiling tiles had fallen between the bed and the dresser and there was an obvious leak. Yuck. I was upset because these are the old school 12″ x 12″ ceiling tiles that interlock with each other. I was sure that we would never be able to find replacement tiles that matched up. Double Yuck.
I was starting to stress about it, so I took Garrett for a stroll around the camp since it was such a beautiful day. Mr. Stover, the owner of the camp, was cutting down a tree on a lot down the hill from us, so I took G over to see him. We chatted for a minute and I mentioned that we had a leak. He had originally helped to build our cabin, so he offered to come look at the roof. He brought his ladder, crawled up on our roof and said it was just a few loose screws that needed to be tightened on the tin roofing. So, YAY! And then he said, “I’ve got a whole box of those ceiling tiles in my barn, you can have as many as you want.”
And once again, Mr. Stover came to the rescue. I love that man. He has saved us a TON of money and effort since we bought the cabin. Thank goodness for him and his barn full of tools and supplies.
In other news, my neice has strep throat AND the flu. She has a double whammy! Bless her heart. And now my sister is running a fever and achy too, so we assume she has the flu as well. Thank goodness G hasn’t been around them.
The worst part- the strain that has arrived here in Alabama is resistant to Tamiflu so it’s no help, and it’s also a different strain than the flu shot that G got a few months back, so he’s not immune. Yuck.
I’m glad he’s out of school tomorrow so he won’t be swapping spit with all those other germy kids who’s brothers and sister are in my neice’s school. Illness spread around here like wildfire. Riley and G have the same Dr., and he told my sister that he’s seen hundreds of cases of the flu this week. It just arrived this week.
G has a 12 month checkup appt on Wednesday and I’m seriously considering putting it off for a while until I can get him in at the well child clinic (in a different building for well kids only). I DO NOT want him to get sick just from walking into the pedi office. And the only shots he is scheduled for was a flu booster (which is pointless now, anyway, I think) and a chicken pox vaccine that I’m planning to skip. And also a Prevnar booster, which he needs but I don’t think it will hurt to wait a month or so.
Blah. Hoping and praying that he doesn’t get the flu.
Tomorrow we get to stuff and label 1300 mailers for an Open House we are having at work. Yippee! I would have gotten started on them last week but instead I spent the entire afternoon on Friday trying to figure out how to mail merge the addresses from Excel into Word. I was ready to toss my computer across the room when I finally called my friend Lori to help me out. And she proceeded to figure it out in .002 seconds. How annoying and awesome is that? Seriously though, I really appreciate her helping me out like that. I was so lost and getting angrier by the minute, and she saved the day. Mail merge is not my friend.
I’ve got some homework to do for my Watkins internet marketing class that is being taught by my upline manager Melody. She is really cracking the whip this week, and I’ve got a lot to get done before tomorrow night’s class. Wish me luck! Anyone have any good ideas on a niche market for my internet Watkins business? Shoot me an email!
