Hey there! I’m Beth.
I love home decorating, baking, and DIYing on the cheap. I also like to get my hands dirty in my flowerbeds and snap pretty photos along the way. I love fishing, laughing, boat riding, and Willie Nelson. If you enjoy these things, you might like to sit a spell with me in my corner of the internet. It’s great to meet you. I am SO glad you joined me today.
In 2005, I started writing about my new home on Myspace, then I became a “mommy blogger” when my son was born in 2008. Eventually, my musings about life and motherhood morphed into a DIY and home design website called Unskinny Boppy that became even more popular when I became a beta tester for Pinterest. My blog predates every social media site (except Myspace!). It’s a true OG of the internet. You’ll find a whole lot of DIY craftiness and interior design ideas peppered with some cute pics of my kids and our travel adventures. I try to be funny. Sometimes I succeed.
Over the years, I’ve had some REALLY cool opportunities because of this blog. I’ve toured many HGTV Dream Homes and Smart Homes. My home and photography has been featured by multiple magazines and design websites.
There have been too many real-life adventures to count. Once I found myself taking shots with Andrew Shue and Brian Patrick Flynn at a rooftop bar in Atlanta. Another time, I got to spend the weekend with Mary Kay Andrews at her house in Tybee Island. One time, I got to meet Larry Gatlin on a blogger trip to Nashville and The Oak Ridge Boys on a Young Living retreat in Salt Lake City. My mama was so proud of those last two. I didn’t tell her about the first two.
My most embarrassing moment was when I received a personal phone call from P. Allen Smith to be a part of his seed testing program, but my daughter (who was a toddler at the time) screamed in the phone and hung up on him. I was mortified, but he was the most gracious person when explained what happened.
In 2020, I worked as a Designer on the HGTV show Home Town Takeover with Ben and Erin Napier. I have drafted blueprints for a Southern Living Home Plan home builder. In 2024, I began a job at Hoffman Media, handling e-commerce for magazines like Bake from Scratch, Taste of the South, Victoria and Southern Lady.
You just never know where this crazy life will take you. I’m just along for the ride.
