So let it be written that we are now officially entering my most favorite season of the year.
I love Fall. It makes my happy.
I got married in the Fall, and every time I look at my wedding photos they make me smile. We are coming up on our sixth year together and we have big celebration plans in the works. I’ll get back with you on that one though…
For now I’ll just show you this gorgeous but singular tree in my yard that has turned a brilliant crimson red and fiery orange in the past couple of days.
I’m STOKED for Fall in our new house. This place is 3.3 acres of a hardwood heaven, and I cannot wait to see it all ablaze! Unfortunately the pool cover went on when the first leaves began to fall. We sure didn’t want to scoop 3.3 acres of leaves out of it next Spring.
Our trees usually turn around mid to late November, so we still have a while before we see just what our yard is capable of. I have a bad feeling this year will be kind of a dud for color, but that’s ok. I’ll just get to be surprised again next year! Even scenes like this get me excited, so I’m not that hard to please.
The inside of the house is giving me a tougher time because I’m going through a very unexpected pastel phase right now. I’m not sure what brought this on, because I haven’t been much of a pastel kind of girl since I was about eight years old. Our old house had lots of dark burgundy and berries and autumn colors year round… for five years. And after five years I’ve had enough cranberry in my design to fill an Ocean Spray commercial. So I’m swearing off burgundy in this new house. Well in the parts that I see the most, anyway.
My new favorite color is blue. Aqua blue, peacock blue, slate blue, indigo blue, pale gray/blue. When I saw this pretty little blue caddy on the latest Willow House aka Ex-Southern Living At Home Catalog I started drooling.
I knew I had to have it. Then I saw a few other things that caught my attention in the catalog. THEN I realized that I could buy the Willow House starter kit and get most of the pieces I loved for less that what I would pay for all of these items individually.
So I did. LOL!
I love this stuff! It’s perfect for meshing my new lighter color schemes with my existing style. I feel like I’m still being true to myself but reinventing the vibe in my house.
I think most of you out there who love beautiful design can understand my feelings. Plus it just makes me happy, so I’m doing it.
PS- if you’re scratching your head about the title of this post, it’s the wording I used in place of “Reception to Follow” on our wedding invitations. I still don’t regret it, so I know it was a good choice of words. And how appropriate it turned out to be.
I love your squash tied with a ribbon – awesomeness! And, I am quite envious of your pool cover – that type is on my ‘if money were no object’ wish list 🙂
Beth, so glad you got in touch with Diane. Great idea since you wanted most of it anyway. Those big bottles are so gorgeous, you will probably want them too. Thank you for stopping by!
Awesome idea…just buy the starter kit! They do have some beautiful items.
Blessings,
Linda
