Friday wrapped up Teacher Appreciation week at G’s preschool, which means he only has one week of school left before summer is here.
I was semi-prepared for teacher appreciation week because I had ordered Miss Jennifer a monogrammed lunch tote from 31 gifts along with several others a few months back. I thought it was super cute and she really seemed to like it!
Inside the bag I stuck a book that I found with all kinds of great craft ideas for kids.
I also gave her a Watkins Manicure pack for her pampering gift.
Garrett has had such a wonderful year in Miss Jennifer’s class, and I really do appreciate all that she and the other teachers have done for us. She has saved my sanity, that is for sure. He was just six months old on his first day of school last August. Look at what a little feller baby he was! He wasn’t even sitting up unassisted yet!
Since then he’s grown into this walking tall little boy who is babbling and saying “Uh Oh!” at every opportunity. He’s growing up so fast, I can’t even believe it.
I love that Jennifer has sent him home with a whole lot of sweet artwork like this piece I got for Mother’s Day today:
On Earth Day he came home with a cup of dirt that had a seed in it. It has been sitting in my window sill and one week after it was planted it looked like this:
And today it looks like this! This little plant is really taking off! I have no idea what kind of plant it is. Let’s hope it’s not kudzu.
On Friday a bunch of the parents brought food for the teacher’s luncheon. I made Rosemary bread
And Peanut Butter Cornflake Squares. Oh yeah, baby.
You can read all the recipes for them over at my Southern Living Naturally site.
Anyway, I made it to school that day with lunch for Miss Jennifer but somehow I walked right out the door without making Garrett a lunch! I’m actually kind of surprised that it took me to the end of the school year to forget to pack his lunch. I’ve been so scattered this whole year.
I’ve been extremely happy to have Garrett in this preschool, and he will be going full time starting in the fall. A few weeks ago they had their Spring program, and all the kids sang a bunch of silly songs on stage.
Here he is hiding behind the geraniums.
It was just adorable. Garrett was doing great up until the point when all the kids screamed “NO!” during one of the songs. He must have thought he was in trouble because he started screaming hysterically.
Then he broke down crying and had to be held the rest of the time.
But he was a trooper for the rest of the program, even clapping along to the songs a few times.
Thanks so much to everyone at Garrett’s school for making his first year a memorable one! We are so happy to have you guys in our lives! Have a great summer and see you next year!

That picture of him balling with the girl comforting him is just all too sad and sweet at the same time!
