But it’s still green around my ‘hood.
While I wait on leaves the color of hay
I can still decorate with pumpkins. YAY!”
I know that the calender says it’s officially fall, but it’s still as green as Kermit’s ass at my house. There are a few leaves starting to drift down, and the temperature is really nice these days, so I have hope that it’s right around the corner. The mums and pumpkins are all over the garden centers right now, so I’ve still got that Fall feelin’ whenever I step outside.
I should say that in actuality, I will never see these decorations because I never go out the front door of my house. I always use the garage door so my first view of my house is the junky pantry and laundry room. I should decorate in those rooms instead! Seriously, the only people who might see my front porch are the Jehovah’s Witnesses and the pizza delivery men. We don’t even get trick-or-treaters at our house because of our long and winding driveway.
Which means nobody will get to see my pretty pumpkin luminarias on the steps. Boo.
So you people out there in blogland better be appreciating my decorations, dangit, because you’re the only folks who will ever see them. And hopefully you won’t care that I couldn’t find anything exciting around my house to put inside my door bucket so I just tied a ribbon to it and left it empty.
And maybe, you won’t care that I didn’t trim my scraggly tea olive bushes back beside my front steps. They may be ugly, but they smell delicious right now!
Here, lemme crop them in just a bit so you don’t see them as much. Ahhh… that’s a little better.
Seeing these pictures all in a row really, REALLY makes me want to paint my front door a different color. Black, perhaps.
Do they make a mahogany veneer I can just slap up there? Cause that’d be excellent. I truly miss my old front door.
Love the porch and all your brick work. Makes me miss my home in MN with my paved walkway and porch.

Well I think it looks very pretty!!! We have a similar set-up here with a long steep driveway but I still like looking at it when I come home : )
You have such a grand entrance. I just put a few pumpkins, lanterns and mums on my front porch, too. It does make it feel more like fall. (Although it’s been in the 50s and rainy here, so fall may have already arrived.)
You have such a beautiful, welcoming porch. Love how you’ve styled it.
This looks like it came straight out of a Southern Living magazine. LOVE! Your porch is amazing!
It’s still hot here too. I guess we’ll feel fall like temps in uh, December? 🙂
I’m passing through some of the blogs and thought id stop and say hello. And i hope that you folks have a very nice fall weekend. Richard from the Amish community of Lebanon Pennsylvania.
With your brick it might be too much but I have always wanted a red front door.
Beth, I just stumbled onto your site and I am so glad I did!! I love it!! Your home is just gorgeous!! So warm and welcoming! I am a newbie to blogging and your newest follower. I am definitely adding you to my blog list! I hope you will follow me, too! Many blessings to you!
Beautiful porch Beth!!!! I miss decorating, one of these days I will get back into it!!!
Your porch looks beautiful and I am glad I got to see it! You are welcome to come on over to see mine too since we only get a handfull or Trick or Treaters:( XO, Pinky
[…] in the spirit once I see more of that on the roadside and feel the temperature start to cool. I go through this every year. The rest of the country is raring to go hayriding while us Southerners are still lagging […]
Gorgeous. Love how the cast-iron compliments the red brick. The lanterns are a nice touch, but I think I prefer them more as an aesthetic compliment than as a focal point for the front steps. You say that we’re “the only folks who will ever see” your decorations? I hope not, because they’re really spectacular. Thanks for sharing!
