Kitty came into our lives unexpectedly on the Fourth of July, 2020, and here we are… nearly SIX years later, being bossed around by this 9 lb creature, keeping her fed, watered and constantly shoveling her stanky ol’ turds. I love this cat… but I do not love her bathroom situation.

For years, we were in a toxic relationship with a robotic plastic litter box. I thought it would be great because, hello? It’s robotic. It was supposed to automatically scoop the poop, deposit it into a tray and then you empty it as needed. The problem was, it was made of plastic, so no matter how often we cleaned it, It never actually smelled clean, no matter how much you scrub it. It just smelled like… ammonia-soaked old litter box.
Enter Kitty Poo Club—aka the thing that finally made me feel like I finally have my life together (at least in the cat department).

So what is Kitty Poo Club, really?
Watch a quick video of me assembling it here:
It’s a monthly delivery of a disposable cardboard litter box + litter. Yes, I said disposable cardboard. Yes, I was skeptical too. No, it’s not flimsy like a shoebox that gives up halfway through opening it.
It’s actually a waterproof cardboard box with a shiny coating that somehow holds up to a cat doing all her stinky cat things. It does NOT leak at all, and after about a month of use, you put the lid on it, take it out to the garbage (or recycle it) and setup a fresh new box that arrives in the mail. That’s it.

How to assemble a Kitty Poo Club box
You’ve got options for the setup, which I appreciate because I don’t like being told what to do by a box.
You can open it from either the side or the end, depending on your ideal layout. Just tear along the perforated part and she’s got an easy opening to step through, which is great now that she’s getting older and moving a bit slower.

Then just slide these little plastic clips on the box sides to make it extra sturdy. The whole process takes maybe a couple minutes.

And then—very important step—you pour the litter in while your cat stands back and supervises like a middle manager who doesn’t trust you.
Also, be prepared for a possible escape attempt mid-disposal. Mine saw her opportunity and took it.
Let’s talk about the smell (or lack of it 👀)
I use the crystal silica version, and I’m not being dramatic when I say it’s basically stink-proof.
Like… I walked by and didn’t immediately know a litter box existed in that bathroom at all. That alone deserves a standing ovation.
If you’ve ever had a moment where a guest comes over and you suddenly become hyper-aware of the smell—this helps with that. A lot.
The best part: no more scrubbing
This is where Kitty Poo Club really wins me over.
At the end of the month, you don’t deep clean anything. You don’t soak a plastic box in your bathtub while questioning your life choices.
You just… throw it away.
Start fresh. New box. New life. New personality, honestly.
Is my cat impressed?
Absolutely not.

She acted personally offended the entire time I was setting it up and then refused to model for me like the diva she is. But she happily uses it every single day, which is really the only review that matters.
Final thoughts from someone who has cleaned too many litter boxes
Is this the cheapest litter box ever? No.
Did it remove one of my least favorite chores and make my house smell better? Yes.
Honestly though, it’s not THAT much more expensive than buying litter at the store, plus it’s delivered right to my doorstep with free shipping so you have to consider that convenience factor. And with it being on auto-shipment, I never forget (or have to remember) to buy more.
And at this stage in life, that’s enough for me!
If you’re over the whole scrubbing-a-litter-box situation and want something easier, Kitty Poo Club is worth trying.
Worst case: your cat judges you and you’re out $29.00.
Best case: your house stops smelling like ammonia and poo, and you never have to go to Walmart for cat litter again.
Also!! Be sure to invest in one of these cat litter catcher mats! This sucker is GREAT! When she steps out of the litter box, all the litter gathers here instead of tracking all over the floor. Then I take it outside and shake it out real quick through the open end. They are kind of a must-have if you have cats.
