First off, let me say HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to all those dear old dads out there in the innernets. Hope you’ve all had a great one.
J had a pretty good one, I believe. A personalized card with a poem from Garrett that said:
For my Daddy on Father’s Day
Thank you…For tucking me in each and every night
For loving me with all your mightFor all those stories you read me before bed
For my flat feet and the size of my headFor all those Saturday morning fishing shows
For letting me play outside under the hoseFor picking me up whenever I fall
For being my Daddy, the best one of them all.Happy Father’s Day from your lowercase G.
With the card came a new Swiss Army watch (much needed) and a baby free night out on the town to celebrate!
We had a great dinner last night at Firebirds, which is one of our most favorite restaurants around. We had a coupon for a free appetizer, so those crab cakes tasted even better since we didn’t have to pay for them.
On the way to dinner we drove by a Sips and Strokes and I told J that I wanted to go do that sometime. If you’ve never heard of it, Sips and Strokes is a place where you can go paint your own art while enjoying a little drinky-drink. A good place for a night out with the girls.
When I told J that I was interested, he blurted out “I’d be willing to do that sometime.”
Come again?
And he wasn’t even kidding.
So during dinner I tried to get in touch with the local S-n-S and see if they had any openings for the evening. No luck. Instead I suggested that we try out a paint-your-own-pottery place where I made Garrett a cute little Christmas ornament last year.
And that’s where the fun began.
He started off slow, really contemplating what he wanted to paint. For a while I wondered if he was really going to paint anything.
I started painting a little canister with a fish on top for the lake house.
And then the light bulb went off over his head, and he figured out what he wanted to paint.
Remember a few years back when we went to Canada and came home with the nekkid people plaque for our lake cabin?
Well now we have one with Garrett included in it.
In case you need a refresher, here is the original:
And here is J’s version:
I am ell-oh-elling forever over this one.
I am so excited to pick this pottery up in a week and see how it turns out.
Oh em gee, I love it! Jeremy, you are my new art hero!
lol — I love it! PERFECT!
That is HILARIOUS! And honestly quite good!
