So here is part two of my Bham GTG recap. If you missed part one, clicketh.
Once we finally got together we decided to split apart. But we had a good reason! It was all part of our Top Secret Mission to divert Dusty for a few minutes while the rest of the girls went ahead to my house and got everything in place for the surprise baby shower. I drove Merry and Dusty around in circles showing them my town and some other attractions, which included an unplanned run-in with my Dad! That helped to waste a few more minutes, and then we were on the road home.
Since Dusty is a HUGE lover of Nerds, I decided to throw her a Nerds themed shower.
Nerds were all over the place! Well, Nerds and all things Wonka candy related, even our old friend PixyStix made an appearance!
Kent threw together a Welcome Baby G&D sign made out of a piece of old matboard from my basement and some vinyl wall decals I found at the Dollar store. Not shabby, huh?
And more vinyl wall decals spelled out Congrats Dusty! on my back door.
Here was her Strawberry cake from Edgars Bakery.
I had no idea what she liked, so I just picked my favorite. When in doubt, go the selfish route.
When she walked through the door making her pizza delivery, everyone yelled SURPRISE and they dropped balloons from the balcony.
She was just a little bit surprised.
I think this is the first actual surprise party that I’ve ever successfully pulled off. It really helps when the guest of honor lives like 20 states away.
Unfortunately when you plan a surprise party for a pregnant girl, the reaction you will most likely get is this one: “I REALLY GOTTA PEE!”

But after her bladder was empty her heart was full.
And we finally all got to mingle and hang out.
Since she couldn’t partake of the real stuff, I made her a wine glass full of Nerds.
While these two Nerds did what they do best.
Then she got down to business opening all those presents!
This kid’s closet is fully stocked in personalized onesies and cutesy patootsy outfits. I couldn’t resist this little cherry sleeper with red mary janes on the feet! How cute is that!?
Ok, not as cute as all of THIS.
After gifts were opened, we tried taking some group shots that all turned out really crazy and off centered. Here is the best of the bunch:
It was so late after that, we all put on our pajamas while Dusty went to work on cutting that gigantic cake.
Then we settled in for a long night of giggling and girl time.
We love you Dusty!
To be continued…
Oh my goodness, that was such an AMAZING shower, Beth!! Thank you so much for all your planning and effort, and thanks to the rest of the girls for their part in making it such a memorable night!
PS–I’m eating some Nerds right now. YUM!
OMG…this looks like so much fun! How amazing that you all get together every year. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
