Have you ever had the urge to indulge yourself a little bit and buy things that you would never normally purchase just because they look delicious/incredible/relaxing/happy? As I was wandering the aisles of TJMaxx the other day I found myself oohing and aahing over the most random things. And I thought to myself, “Self, you deserve a treat. Buy these things for just for you, because nobody else will be able to read your mind and know that you want these things.”
So I did!
I decided to be totally selfish and make myself a rustic gift basket of TJMaxx randomness JUST FOR ME! Happy Bethday!
The things I purchased are really random and maybe a little off the wall, but it’s stuff that I have wanted for a long time and haven’t pulled the trigger because usually the prices are outrageous. But here is the kicker…. I bought everything in this basket at TJ Maxx, so the prices were SO.MUCH.CHEAPER than buying from a specialty store.
Like this fancy schmancy grapeseed oil?
It has all kinds of great health benefits. I was using grapeseed oil for a while when I was selling Watkins products but I haven’t reordered since I ran out a while back. As a comparison, Watkins price is $10.99 plus tax and shipping for just under 13 ounces.
TJMaxx price? $9.99 for 33 ounces! SCORE!
I’ve been reading all about the wonders of coconut oil lately, too. I nearly bought some from Tropical Traditions a few months ago, but I never could bring myself to pay the shipping charges on top of the already steep prices. When I saw this at TJMaxx I couldn’t resist.
$19.95 for 16 ounces versus $9.99 for 15 ounces.
Ok. I’m sold.
How about some honey from Vermont? $3.99.
Now this stuff here was bought for pure indulgence, and it has turned out to be my favorite product so far. Salt scrub made from Dead Sea salts with almond and vanilla oil. Ever since the Northern Cottage shared the recipe at my garden party I’ve been wanting to try this.
I cannot even describe how smooth my skin is feeling these days because of this salt scrub. I LOVE it. I can’t find a good comparable price for this online, but it was worth every penny that I spent on it, I promise. I’m gonna be honest and say that I am way too lazy to make my own, so spending $6 was worth it for me.
Another great find at 50% off retail price– Mrs Meyers Clean Day Sunscreen. I’ve been buying Blue Lizard brand sunscreen for Garrett since my friend Jenna recommended it to me. This stuff has basically the same ingredients- zinc oxide and titanium dioxide.
Blue Lizard price: $15.99 plus shipping
TJMaxx price: $7.50 onsale!
I will say this, though… the Blue Lizard is fragrance free, which I really like. It also is much thicker and stays on your skin in the pool better than the Mrs Meyers. So, I can’t say that I’m 100% satisfied with this purchase. But, we have sunscreen to last through the summer which is most important.
There were a few other assorted items, but those were my absolute favorites. I might have gotten myself a bag of jelly bellies that are not pictured because they were already being munched on. ๐ AND, a few months ago I scored some Pureology hair care at TJ Maxx! Now that, my friends, is huge! I pay out the ying-yang for that stuff at a salon. But at TJ Maxx, it wasn’t such a blow.
So, if you’re ever in the mood to indulge yourself a little bit but don’t want to take out a second mortgage on your house, try checking your local TJ Maxx.
And don’t even get me started on their home decorating stuff.
That’s another post for another day.

I get so excited when I pop into TJ Maxx/Marshalls/Homegoods! I never know what I’m going to find for a great price and sometimes it is fun to splurge for yourself especially with their discounted prices ๐

I’ve never been there. But EVERYONE in blogland is talking about it lately. I guess I need to finally find one in the neighborhood.

oh yes dear…I totally do that…and have so much fun once in awhile ๐ I love making the purchases “go” together to…weird I know, but you must have that gene too. You know the “it has to look pretty in a pile at the register” urge…weird…
OH and I have that same little conversation in my head, except it usually starts with Honey…You know “Honey, you deserve a treat. Buy these things for just for you, because nobody else will be able to read your mind and know that you want these things.” instead of “Self, you deserve a treat. Buy these things for just for you, because nobody else will be able to read your mind and know that you want these things.”

You know, I have never been to a TJ Maxx. The nearest one to me is a little over an hour ago. After looking at your finds, I might have to venture over. ๐

The salt scrub is absolutely amazing, although the TJ Maxx near me no longer seems to carry it ๐ What was the brand of it? I can’t seem to find it anywhere anymore and it did wonders for my skin, if you could please let me know, I would greatly appreciate it!
