This is a guest post from my good friend Stacy over at Not Just a Housewife! Stacy and I are blog-swapping today, so please hop on over and check out my post on her blog today! Enjoy.
Hello!!! I am so excited to be here today. My favorite thing about blogging is that it has allowed me to meet so many amazing people either online or in real life. I just love Beth. She has such a calming presence and a gorgeous smile. I always feel comfortable around her. She is also insanely talented and her photography is stunning. I am honored to be guest posting over here today.
My name is Stacy Risenmay and I have been blogging about 8 years. I have 4 boys, a sweet husband, and a Frenchie named Kevin. I love to decorate, garden, and DIY. Since it is December, I am going to share some of my past and present Christmas posts. Having kids makes Christmas magical, but it also makes the word “budget” come to mind. Since I am a blogger and I share my home online, I feel the need to change it up every year. I don’t want to spend a lot of money so I reuse and DIY a lot so I only have to buy a couple of things here and there.
I create artwork and signs often when decorating my mantel that will cover the TV. Either 1/8 inch plywood or foam board pops right in the frame and pops right out when the kids want to watch a show. This snowflake sign is one of my favorites.
I have a large chalkboard in our dining area that I use as a menu board. But during December, it turns into our advent calendar. These little bags are just big enough to fit 4 mini candy canes so that no one fights over who get to do the calendar that day.
Last year I had a gingerbread man theme. I made fresh gingerbread men to hang on the trees and even used some as place cards!
We live in a 1938 cottage and one of my favorite things are all the arches and fun details. This view is my favorite at Christmas time!
This year I decided to go with a non-traditional color scheme. I think this moody plum is perfect when paired with greenery and warm wood tones like the eucalyptus and bead garland on my tree.
I built a little village for my mantel this year. The boys love to see it glowing at night when the lights in them are on.
Thanks for letting me share a little bit today. I would love it if you would head over to my blog and check out some of my other projects. Some of my favorite ones from this year are the new patio with sliding wall and both boy bedrooms got makeovers (modern & mountain).
