Uhhhhhhhhhh… Uhhhhhhhhhh… Nah Nah Nah Nah…
That’s what we’ve been hearing all day today from Master P Garrett as he whines and cries and puts up a huge fuss about life in general. Exactly two weeks after the start of preschool and we are smack dab in the middle of his very first illness. It was bound to happen, and according to all the mom’s who have kids in daycare it’s good for him to build up these immunities early. At least that’s what we can say to make ourselves feel better about our kids sharing all that DNA with each other, right? He has been such a healthy, protected baby in a bubble up to this point, but not anymore. The germs crawl in, the germs crawl out, the germs play pinochle on my snout… or something like that. He is sick and I am sick, and together we are pitiful. And J is barely hanging on by a thread.
Garrett has the most sad sounding chugged up baby cough. He coughs and I just want to cry because it’s such a pathetic little sound that I’ve never heard him make before. He was running a bit of a fever yesterday so we took him to the doctor’s office since they would be closed today and tomorrow for Labor Day. We got no help from the doctor’s office other than a sympathetic pat on the knee and orders to give him Tylenol if his fever comes back. I guess we just have to ride this one out.
And speaking of riding things out, my prayers are with everyone who is in the path of Hurricane Gustav right now. It should make landfall tonight and I pray it will weaken in strength before it does. My good friend Natalie has evacuated her 7 month pregnant self from New Orleans to Mobile, so I’m praying the hurricane doesn’t impact her and sweet Anna Kate and her family in the least.
Aww I hope you both feel better soon!
