Two weeks before Garrett’s due date on Valentine’s Day, I had a scheduled c-section on February 1st, 2008.
The day before he was born my sister and mom threw me a Pre-Birth Day Bash to celebrate the fact that the big day had finally arrived. They had a birthday spread layed out for me when I arrived at my mom’s house. Cake, nuts, cheeseball, chips, dips, punch, the works!
They even put my punch in a margarita glass so I could pretend that I was having that stiff drink that I hadn’t had in many moons.
My sister wrote “Boo Who?” on the cake. Boo was G’s nickname in utero. Short for Boudreaux. The “who?” part because I had no idea what I was going to name him even the day before he arrived, and Mom and Julie were very sad about that fact. Boohoo. Get it?
Looking at this photo, you really wouldn’t even know I was pregnant, much less FULL TERM!
But then I turned sideways, and WOWZA!!! Yeah, I was definitely pregnant.
And I didn’t use the term “Unskinny” in this blog for nothin’.
I can hardly believe that just a year ago I had 8 lbs of baby in my belly.
Here was his view.
Pretty scary, huh?
As a Birth Day gift, my mom gave me a belly painting kit.
Julie and Mom painted my belly to look like a giant fish bowl with big lipped fish– my favorite!
I never in a million years thought that I would ever show my naked belly to the entire innernet, but here we go.
Honestly? I think it’s beautiful!
Not only the artwork, but the fact that I was creating LIFE inside there.
I made a person. A beautiful little boy that is so perfect it brings me to tears some days. But the fact that my body grew another human being inside of it…How awesome is that?
Un-friggin-believably awesome.
