It seems like Christmas 2010 lasted forever here at the Unskinny Boppy house. We put up the tree the week before Thanksgiving, so the house was in super holiday spirit mode for longer than normal. The past few years we’ve made excuses for not decorating very much because I was either pregnant or we had the house for sale or we were on a cruise from hell. This year we had nothing stopping us from decorating as much as we wanted, so we got a little overzealous.
Did anyone else have about six different celebrations to attend? We had nonstop parties since mid-December it seems.
First we had Santa’s breakfast at Garrett’s preschool. When the big man arrived Garrett ran over to him and shook his hand! How sweet is that?
Then he sat on Santa’s lap and gave him the run down of what all he expected under the tree. Here is G’s 2010 Christmas wish list:
Cranky the Crane (from Thomas and Friends)
Kelly and Byron (more of Thomas’ friends)
A sucker (because who doesn’t love suckers?)
After that it was the annual Christmas party at J’s Uncle’s group home where Garrett and Granny C enjoyed some quality time together.
Then on Christmas Eve we headed over to Nana and Pop Pop’s house where we saw lots of Concentration Lip as he opened all of his gifts.
I love Concentration Lip.
Garrett passed out Nana and PopPop’s gifts to them and helped them open them.
Then he demolished a snowman cupcake before we headed home to see Santa drive by on a firetruck. The next morning he woke up to even MORE presents under the tree.
And we got to see the granddaddy of all Concentration Lip…. Elvis Concentration Lip. You know there was some serious intense concentrating going on when Elvis busts out.
If you’re wondering what all was under our tree this year, let me just say it included a whole bunch of this guy here:
It went something like this:
Thomas trains
Thomas train table pieces
Thomas bath set
Thomas Mega Bloks
Thomas Football
Thomas PJ’s
And a book about going poo on the potty
Or like my friend Merry said… a book about Thomas going poo on the potty.
Here is a small sampling of all the engines he got for his train table:
Oh and here was one of the few non-Thomas gifts under the tree– a log truck so he can haul his Jobi wood from Misty Island with the loco loggers.
After that Gus and Woodrow got their stockings delivered to their crates.
And they got a few extra Christmas treats.
Pretty soon it was time to load up and head over the river and through the wood to Grandmother house for more family time.
We ate lots of good food and watched the snow fall hard and heavy on the lake.
There were even more gifts to be opened and toys to be assembled after lunch.
We got to see some of Uncle Dave’s Concentration Eyebrow as he assembled a Thomas toy for Garrett.
Uncle Dave handed out a round of Dale Earnhardt Jr hats. Every party needs a pooper and Garrett chose to be it for this photo:
Granny looks pretty good in that NASCAR hat, though, doesn’t she??
After lunch we decided to head back home since the snow was coming down hard and fast. We got home to see our house just had a light dusting, but we woke up the next day to see some had actually stuck on the ground!! We had our very first White Christmas here in Alabama! What a huge deal that is!
That will have to be saved for another blog entry, though.
I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas, and a safe New Year!
