I’m feeling the itch.
You know the one I’m talking about. The one that makes you want to go grab a can of paint and start slapping it all over every piece of furniture and object that will sit still in my house.
Now that the basement remodel is completed, I want to focus on the upstairs of the house. We haven’t really done much at all up there except for Garrett’s bedroom and playroom. There is another bedroom that serves as my “girl” room. I don’t want to call it a craft room, because I don’t consider myself to be a regular crafter like some of you are. I don’t sew, I don’t knit, I don’t scrapbook, I don’t coupon, and I don’t have a lot of tiny little stuff for any particular craft that is in desperate need of organization. But I do like these ideas if I did have that stuff.
oOOOOOooooo and lookatthis!!
I have some paint, a glue gun, some spray mount, a Cricut, spools of ribbon for decorating and I have gift wrap. And lots of miscellaneous junk that doesn’t have a real home. I want a place to keep all of that organized and be able to put my hands on it immediately when I need to find something, instead of running all over the house with a crazed look in my eye trying to find the scattered things that I need.
The girl room seems like a logical place.
I come by this honestly. My mom has this incredible scrapbooking room in her basement (well, I should say *had* since it recently got flooded and all the carpeting has been torn up. Here it was right after she got it all organized using Best scrapbook shelves.
You could say my need for a craft room is in my genes.
A few weeks back I pinned this beautiful craft room created by Being Brook:
Then yesterday I clicked over and admired Roeshel’s new cozy office space at The DIY Showoff which reminded me a lot of this one that I saw in the Pottery Barn catalog recently:

I love all those room. And hey, bonus, I already own a project desk just like that one! Here is the only picture of it I can find right now from the old house back in 2009.
I am also totally crushing on stripes right now, after my girls trip to New Orleans to paint these awesome ones in my friend Natalie’s nursery.
I still haven’t blogged about that! Geez, I’m slacking. Here is the short version:
We surprised Natalie and had an awesome girls weekend. She was under the impression that just Kent and I were coming down to help her decorate for the nursery. And in reality, three other girls came down as a total surprise and we partied it up all night. There are about 50-leven photos that look like this right here:
And about two photos of us actually painting and decorating. That trip totally didn’t go as planned. A bit of advice: Never go to a friend’s house in New Orleans and expect to get anything accomplished. Bourbon Street is a helluva distraction.
Here, if you want to see a bunch of bead wearing Bourbon street craziness, go check out what Dusty, Allison and Natalie had to say about our trip! Bourbon Street nearly got the best of us, but we powered through and painted those stripes LIKE A BOSS.
Here is Dusty on a ladder, mere minutes after recovering from her Nolangover.
So, yeah, back to the lecture at hand.
Stripes.
I like them.
But I’m thinking I want something a little more subtle, like these by Team Turnbow:
I’m pretty excited to see how the room shapes up. I hope I can bring all of these ideas that are swirling around my head together in a cohesive design in a more organized way than I did in this post.
This sucker is all over the place.
Just like me.
Anybody seen my glue gun?

I have had to share my girl room with the hubster until our basement is finished, which is so frustrating! I love Being Brook’s craft space! Lovely.
lol! Looks like you had a great trip! So fun! I love all of the inspiration (thanks so much for the shout out!) and I can NOT wait to see what you do! 😉
I had to come back over to pin that PB office. I’m so flattered! 😉
Have a great day!
I am wanting stripes too! I am working on my craft/office room currently~when I ‘m not slacking on the computer! Can’t wait to see yours!
